This entry is where I am listing all of the posts that I am making about Justice Sunday II as I live-blog the event. You can also check out my OPML outline of Justice Sunday II that will serve a similar purpose in a less human readable format. I am tagging all of the entries with JusticeSunday2.
Update: Apparently I really am the only liberal blogger here. I guess I have the heavy responsibility of speaking for an entire side of the political spectrum. Luckily that is a small responsibility compared to Harry Jackson’s willingness to speak for an entire race (or was it all non-white males).
Prior to Justice Sunday I have posted a several entries about Justice Sunday II. There are entries about the podcasts I hope to record during and after the event. I also wrote about Justice Sunday II and the Separation of Church and State and about what I think is the real intent of Justice Sunday II. I came to the conclusion that this event is not in violation of the first admendment nor is it in violation of IRS laws. However, I do think the event is designed to get around those laws while making it well know that these activist churches definitely support one political party (the neo-cons). This is about influencing voters but unfortunately it is all legal.
The media check-in starts at 1:30pm and I probably won’t get there until about 2:30pm. There is a press conference at 3pm and the event starts at 6pm (all times in Central Daylight Time).
I just attended a press conference here at Two Rivers Baptist Church. I posted my first post regarding Justice Sunday, the death penalty and minorities.
It seemed that I was the only liberal blogger in attendance (for the press conference) so I posted The Liberal Perspective. Turns out Cole Wakefield was there too so I look forward to his perspective. I met Cole after the event and was was asking rhetorically “why do these people hate me”. I wish I knew Cole. Hate is not very Christian.
The conservative bloggers that were stationed by me made a big deal out of the protesters outside (GHAST! One was supposedly a cross-dresser). I of course posted about that too.
It turns out Justice Sunday II was mostly about pro-life. I never would have guessed. To bad I didn’t hear mention of the death penalty once (except when I asked Harry Jackson about the death penalty explicitly).
Tom DeLay gave a lecture about the separation of the Judicial branch and the Legislative branch. It is too bad that everyone that spoke after him pretty much nullified that position with innuendoes about using SCOTUS rulings to ban gay marriage, abortion, and other Extreme Right hot-button issues.
One thing that did surprise me was the number of times they referred to the ‘liberal’ Supreme Court. AYFKM?!?!?!? Liberal? I guess everything left of Extreme is liberal.
All in all I found Justice Sunday II to be pretty lacking is substance. Oh, and did I mention that Rebecca St. James’ family owes me money? Yeah, they do.
